IGNOU BLIS Admission 2026-27 IGNOU’s BLIS (Bachelor of Library and Information Science) offers the perfect one-year certification. The course covers library cataloguing, information sources, ICT in libraries, and classification systems, making it ideal for students from any academic background. Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC). The course lasts 1 year, with a maximum period of 3 years to finish. The total fee is ₹7,900, and assignments are compulsory before exams—status can be checked online through the IGNOU dashboard. SC/ST/OBC applicants receive 1%–4% reservation and 30%–40% fee waivers, randomly applied. Admission starts from December 25, 2025 and closes on December 28, 2025, and students must apply online only with a ₹300 application fee.

About IGNOU 

Indira Gandhi National Open University was established by an act of parliament in 1985. It is the only national open university to receive NAAC accreditation of A++ grade and ranked number 1 by NIRF in the open university category in the country. The university provides postgraduate, undergraduate, diploma, and certificate courses in online and ODL mode. IGNOU BLIS Program Details

Indira Gandhi National Open University offers bachelor of library and information science under the school of social science. It is a bachelor degree course of one year. IGNOU is currently offering BLIS programs only in English medium. However, students have the provision to write their term end examination in Hindi. This program comprises 10 courses out of which 6 courses are practical and 4 courses are theory based. Students will be required to achieve a total of 40 credits to obtain a BLIS degree. Students have to pay a total BLIS program fee of INR 9000/-. Eligibility Criteria For IGNOU BLIS Admission 

Students applying for admission to indira gandhi national open university must ensure to have the following eligibility requirements. Students must have a Bachelor’s Degree with 50% marks for General and 45% and for the SC/ST/OBC/PH category respectively. Or applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree with Diploma (one year) in Library Science or  have a Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of working experience in any Library and Information Centre. It is also required of the students to have proficiency in English as it is the main medium of teaching. IGNOU does not have any particular age bar for admission to the BLISH program.

IGNOU BLIS Admission Process 2026 

IGNOU BLIS admission process will start soon for the January 2026 academic session. Students can follow the steps given below to fill out their application form.

• Step 1: Visit www.ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. 
• Step 2: Complete registration by creating login greeting using your mobile number, email ID, username and password.
• Step 3: After verification of login credentials, fill up the application form. 
• Step 4: Enter personal and educational details correctly.
• Step 5: Upload documents, photographs, and signatures after scanning them in given size and format.
• Step 6: Read the instructions and declaration carefully by clicking the ‘Declaration’ box.
• Step 7: Preview all the details and proceed for payment of the fee.
• Step 8: Students have to pay an application fee prescribed by the university via a given mode-Credit/Debit card/Net Banking.
• Step 9: Confirmation of the fee paid will be sent through mail or sms.
• Step 10: Finally submit the form after previewing and confirming all details.
• Step 11: Download and print out duly filled online application form for references. 

Document Required for IGNOU BLIS Admission

Submissions of the following documents have to be done in the correct size and format.

• Class 10th marksheet and passing certificate.
• Identity proof such as aadhaar card, pancard or voter ID. 
• Class 12th marksheet and passing certificate.
• Category certificate (if applicable).
• Scan copy of signature and photograph. 
• Experience certificate (if applicable).

IGNOU Assignment Status Portal

Students can download their assignments from the Assignment Status Portal. It is very important for students to complete and submit their assignments on the given date. As universities do not accept late submission. Assignments must be handwritten only as no typed assignment will be accepted. Students have to use only A-4 white colored, and blue or black ink pens. While submitting, ensure to attach the question paper, and refrain from using unfair means to do the assignment. Lastly keep a photo copy of the submitted assignment, including the assignment submission receipt for reference.

• Step 2: Enter your enrollment number in the box.
• Step 3: Also, enter your program code.
• Step 4: Click on the submit button to proceed.
• Step 5: You will be able to view your Course Code, Session, Assignment Status and Last Updated Date of your assignment submission. 

IGNOU E-Gyankosh Process

E-gyankosh is the digital repository of Indira Gandhi National Open University. Which is used to store, preserve, share and distribute digital learning resources. Anyone can access the website to get self-learning material for any program. It currently holds SLM of 3923 courses and 384 programs of IGNOU. 

Steps to access e-gyankosh are given below:

• Step 1: Visit the e-gyankosh official website- www.egyankosh.ac.in/. 
• Step 2: Click on IGNOU self learning material link.
• Step 3: Select the desired school.
• Step 4: Click on level.
• Step 5: Select program level. Eg: PG, UG, diploma or certificate.
• Step 6: Choose between ARCHIVE or CURRENT.
• Step 7: Click on the desired program. 
• Step 8: Select which course you want. Either elective courses, foundation courses or major courses. 
• Step 9: Select medium of instruction. Eg: hindi or english.
• Step 10: Select topic and choose desired block.
• Step 11: Choose a unit and you will be able to view the SLM.
