IGNOU DELEd Admission 2026-27 is ideal for in-service elementary teachers who want to upgrade their skills through distance education. The Diploma in Elementary Education (DELEd) covers topics like child development, learning methods, school-based activities, and educational assessment. This 2-year course allows up to 4 years for completion. The total fee is ₹12,000, and the course includes compulsory assignments and workshops. Eligibility is limited to working teachers with a 10+2 qualification and minimum 2 years of teaching experience. SC/ST/OBC candidates can claim 1%–5% reservation, along with a random tuition fee concession of 25%–40%. The final date for application is December 28, 2025, and the form must be submitted online, along with a ₹300 registration fee.

Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EL.ED) is a teacher training programme offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University. This programme is designed for in- service untrained teachers working in primary and upper primary schools to help them improve their teaching skills. This programme aimed to develop teacher’s understanding of child development, classroom management, teaching methods and school organization. However, IGNOU currently does not offer new admissions to the D.El.Ed. programme, as the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) stopped distance mode teacher training courses in recent years. 

Eligibility Criteria For IGNOU DELEd Admission

Candidates who wish to pursue the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EL.ED) from IGNOU must meet the following eligibility criteria before applying for the programme. 

• Qualification Requirements: Applicants need to have passed their 10+2 or its equivalent from a certified university in any discipline. 
• Minimum Passing Percentage: Candidates must obtain a minimum of 50% to 55% aggregate marks at their 10+2 level. 
• Entrance Examination: IGNOU does not conduct any entrance test for the D.El.ED programme. Candidates can seek direct admission.
• Experience: However, the university requires candidates to have at least 2 years of teaching experience at the time they apply for admission. 

IGNOU DELED Admission Fees Structure 

D.El.ED at IGNOU is a very affordable programme. Per semester fee of this programme is INR 3,000 and the total fee is INR 12,000*. Students must pay a registration fee of INR 200 which is non-refundable and has to be paid during the application process. Also, they need to pay a development fee of INR 200 and an examination fee of INR 200. 

IGNOU DELED Admission Process 2026-27 

IGNOU DELED Admission process will begin soon for the January 2026-27 academic session. Applicants fill out the application form before the final date. IGNOU provides direct admission without any entrance exam to the DELED programme. 

IGNOU is currently not accepting new admissions for D.El.ED programmes because the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) stopped teacher training courses in distance mode in recent years.

• Step 1: Visit Site: Go to the IGNOU’s admission portal (www.ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in/index.php/registration/user/register) 
• Step 2: Create Account: Enter your name,mobile number and email address to register yourself at the portal. Also you need to set a password for the next login process. 
• Step 3: Log In: Sign in with your user name and password at the login page. 
• Step 4: Choose your Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EL.ED) programme from the list.  
• Step 5: Application Form: Fill out the application form online by providing your required personal details, educational qualifications, contact details etc.
• Step 6: Upload Documents: Submit your scanned documents including scanned signature,certificates and photographs.  
• Step 7: Submission: Carefully check all the details before submitting for the payment processing. 
• Step 8: Fee Payment: Pay an application fee of INR 300 via Net Banking,UPI,Debit Card or Credit Card.  
• Step 9: Confirmation: After a few days the university will send you a confirmation mails, take a printout of that for further processing.

IGNOU DELEd Programme Assignments 

IGNOU D.El.Ed assignments are an important part of this programme and make sure you will submit before the deadline. Candidates are required to write the answers by hand on A4-sized sheets on their own words and submit them to their respective study centre. These assignments carry 30% weightage, while the term-end examination carries 70%.
