IGNOU DELEd Programme Guide
Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EL.ED) is a teacher training programme offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University. This programme is designed for in- service untrained teachers working in primary and upper primary schools to help them improve their teaching skills. This programme aimed to develop teacher’s understanding of child development, classroom management, teaching methods and school organization. However, IGNOU currently does not offer new admissions to the D.El.Ed. programme, as the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) stopped distance mode teacher training courses in recent years.
Eligibility Criteria For IGNOU DELEd Admission
Candidates who wish to pursue the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EL.ED) from IGNOU must meet the following eligibility criteria before applying for the programme.
- Qualification Requirements: Applicants need to have passed their 10+2 or its equivalent from a certified university in any discipline.
- Minimum Passing Percentage: Candidates must obtain a minimum of 50% to 55% aggregate marks at their 10+2 level.
- Entrance Examination: IGNOU does not conduct any entrance test for the D.El.ED programme. Candidates can seek direct admission.
- Experience: However, the university requires candidates to have at least 2 years of teaching experience at the time they apply for admission.
IGNOU DELED Admission Fees Structure
D.El.ED at IGNOU is a very affordable programme. Per semester fee of this programme is INR 3,000 and the total fee is INR 12,000*. Students must pay a registration fee of INR 200 which is non-refundable and has to be paid during the application process. Also, they need to pay a development fee of INR 200 and an examination fee of INR 200.

IGNOU DELED Admission process will begin soon for the January 2026-27 academic session. Applicants fill out the application form before the final date. IGNOU provides direct admission without any entrance exam to the DELED programme.
IGNOU is currently not accepting new admissions for D.El.ED programmes because the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) stopped teacher training courses in distance mode in recent years.

- Step 6: Upload Documents: Submit your scanned documents including scanned signature,certificates and photographs.
- Step 7: Submission: Carefully check all the details before submitting for the payment processing.
